Appointments
Due to the retirement of our Undergraduate Advisor, Grace Krewson, we will be without a permanent advisor until early summer. For students who wish to declare a major in English, or who have questions about fall classes, please contact us after 1 June. For those with other questions, please contact either Cross-College Advising (if you are not a major) or L&S Advising. We will update this page soon with further information and news about our new English Advisor.
Suggested Advising Practices For Majors
Every semester, prior to registration:
- Check to see what courses will be offered. Check the Timetable on the Web for all available courses. Use our deparment Web site to find information about upcoming English courses or, stop in the office (7195 Helen C. White) for a Course Description Booklet (published each semester).
- Review your academic plan and select those English courses that will fulfill major requirements and/or those classes you have been looking forward to taking as English electives.
- Plan your schedule. Keep in mind your timeline and your program needs.
- Schedule an appointment with the advisor to make sure that you have selected a coherent set of courses particular to your needs and requirements.
The last semester, prior to registration:
- Meet with the adviser for an audit of your academic degree coursework and verify that you are ready to graduate. Apply for graduation through My UW.
- Discuss your future plans and learn about resources available to you from the Undergraduate Office.
- If your plans require recommendation letters, sign up for our letter of recommendation service.
- Check out information/dates regarding graduation and commencement.
