Mary teaches upper-level undergraduate writing courses in the English department. Her published work includes journalism, fiction, and poetry. Research interests include writing and daily life; intersections between composition concerns and creative writing; historical perspectives on literacy; and writing pedagogy. Her current research focuses on Minnesota writer Brenda Ueland (If You Want to Write).

Matthew is completing a dissertation about the evolution and interaction of disciplinary discourses on writing pedagogy, particularly with respect to first-year writing requirements at the college level. His research interests include writing center pedagogy; writing program administration; rhetoric and ethics; narrative and critical theory; rhetoric and historiography; and, of course, composition pedagogy. Matthew also teaches in the Writing Center.
